What a Commercial Gas Safety Inspection Covers
The engineer inspects every gas appliance on site for correct operation, gas rate and burner pressure, checks flame supervision and safety devices, carries out a tightness test on the installation pipework, verifies purge-air and mechanical ventilation against the appliance heat input, and inspects flues for spillage. Anything found at risk is classified as Immediately Dangerous or At Risk, made safe with your permission, and recorded on the paperwork.
Inspection and Testing Explained
Inspection is visual and functional; testing is measured. A complete commercial visit needs both — a visual survey alone will not detect a slow pipework leak or an under-ventilated kitchen. We record combustion analysis figures, tightness test results and pressure readings on the certificate so a third party can audit the numbers rather than take a tick-box on trust.
Who Needs One and How Often
Employers, landlords, managing agents and facilities teams responsible for commercial premises need an annual inspection as a minimum. Kitchens, plant rooms and LPG installations frequently need more frequent checks. If you have taken on a new site, an inspection before you begin trading establishes the condition you inherited.
Certification and Records
You receive the appropriate CP-series certificate — CP42 for catering, CP44 for boilers and plant, CP15 for commissioning, CP16 for testing and purging — plus a written report of any remedial work with fixed prices. Documents are emailed as PDFs on the day of the visit.

How long does an inspection take?
A small site is usually complete within an hour or two. Large kitchens and multi-boiler plant rooms take longer, and we can attend outside trading hours to avoid disruption.
What happens if an appliance fails?
It is classified, labelled and — with your permission — isolated. You get a written explanation and a fixed price for the remedial work, and the certificate is issued once the appliance passes.
Do you inspect LPG installations?
Yes. Our engineers hold the relevant LPG commercial categories and can certify LPG appliances, changeover valves and pipework alongside natural gas equipment.
