F-Gas Leak Testing Requirements
Operators of equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases must have systems leak checked at intervals set by the CO2 equivalent charge — broadly 12 monthly from 5 tonnes CO2e, 6 monthly from 50 tonnes CO2e, and 3 monthly from 500 tonnes CO2e, with intervals doubled where a fixed leak detection system is fitted. Records must be kept and made available to enforcement officers.
How We Test
We carry out a full visual inspection of the plant, then an electronic leak detection survey of joints, valves, flanges, compressor seals, evaporators and condensers, supplemented by bubble solution and, where appropriate, pressure or nitrogen testing on isolated sections. Fixed leak detection systems are function tested at least every 12 months as required.
Leak Repair and Verification
Where a leak is found we repair it and re-check the system within one month of the repair, as the regulation requires. Refrigerant recovered and added is recorded by type and quantity so your logs reconcile.
Records and Compliance Documentation
You receive a leak check report per system covering refrigerant type, charge, CO2e tonnage, check interval, findings, repairs and the next due date. We can also review and rebuild an incomplete refrigerant log so your site is audit-ready.
